Evangelical Covenant Church

When new members join a Covenant church, they are asked two questions about belief: “Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and promise to follow him as Lord?” and “Do you accept the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, as the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct?” They are then asked if they intend to live as faithful followers of Christ and members of the church and denomination. That’s all. That is enough.

What We Do

Start & Strengthen Churches

We are committed to start and strengthen healthy, missional churches, much like the Apostle Paul started and continued to strengthen churches in the New Testament. We believe the local church is God's foundational strategy to carry out mission in the world. Through planting new churches and providing resources to strengthen existing congregations, these ministries seek to reach more people, in more places, among more populations, with the hope of Christ.

Develop Leaders

The Covenant Ministerium is growing quickly as passionate and qualified individuals join our pastoral community. It is our privilege to strengthen this Evangelical Covenant Church community of vocational ministries through advocacy, endorsement, care, and formation. Additionally, we strive to lift up lay leaders in our local churches to join with local pastors in furthering God's mission. We envision a connected and faithful community of clergy and lay leaders who demonstrate the following:

  • The active inclusion of all persons called to serve God, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or disability
  • A deep understanding of Scripture, theology, discernment, and Covenant identity
  • A healthy self-awareness and personal care through Sabbath-based rhythms
  • A commitment to life-long learning and relational accountability

Love Mercy Do Justice

From our inception the Covenant has been concerned with helping hurting people (love mercy), and addressing the causes of that hurt (do justice). The mission of Love Mercy Do Justice (LMDJ) is to “Join God in making things right in our broken world.” Our goal is to resource and equip the local church in its call to love, serve, and work together with people at the margins toward holistic individual, family and community transformation.

Make & Deepen Disciples

Make and Deepen Disciples exists to partner with conferences in resourcing local churches to provide intentional pathways for persons of all ages to follow Jesus, grow toward Christ-likeness, and join in God's mission. Our dream is to have an exponential impact by equipping the Covenant to become a community of disciples who make disciples.

Serve Globally

The whole mission, across cultures, around the world

VISION/MISSION

The Evangelical Covenant Church is committed to the whole mission of God – extending the whole gospel to the whole world. Through global partnerships and our global personnel, we facilitate the practice of the five mission priorities of the Evangelical Covenant Church: make and deepen disciples, start and strengthen churches, develop leaders, love mercy and do justice, and serve globally—that is, join the rest of the global church in engaging in God’s mission across cultures and around the world through:

— equipping local congregations for mission;
— training the people of God through formal and informal theological education;
— sending missionaries to strategic places;
— and cultivating partnerships with churches and organizations in strategic contexts.
